Juniors Jasmine Nielsen (Denver, Iowa) and Kelsey Carbajo (Spring Hill, Kan.) finished in the top seven at the MCC Cross Country Championship held today at Jones Park in Cedar Rapids.

Both Nielsen and Carbajo competed well enough to qualify for the NAIA Championships and earn MCC All-Conference honors. Nielsen was sixth overall on the 5k course with a time of 20:22 and Carbajo seventh in 20:30.

The winning team as well as the top five individuals (not on winning team) earn the right to compete at nationals. The top seven individuals earn all-conference recognition.

It is Carbajo's second trip to the national championships; she also qualified in 2012.

Nielsen and Carbajo will represent Grand View at the 2013 NAIA Championships on November 23 at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence, Kansas. 

GV finished fourth in the team standings (95 pts.). St. Ambrose won the team title with 23 points. Mount Mercy was runner-up (66 pts.) and Viterbo third (94 pts.).
