[Women's Indoor Track and Field] Four Wins, Two National Qualifying Marks at Wartburg TriangularPublished by
The Grand View women's track & field team won four events and hit two national qualifying marks at the Wartburg Triangular Friday and Saturday in Waverly. Val Veiock (West Des Moines, Iowa) improved both of her previous national qualifying marks on Saturday. The senior won both the shot put and the weight throw with NAIA automatic qualifying distances (14.02m shot put/16.93m weight throw). Veiock's mark in the shot put is tops in the MCC and also #7 in the NAIA and her mark in the weight throw is second in the MCC (behind teammate Jena Krebs) and ranks #3 in the NAIA. Senior Holly Anthony (Morongo Valley, Calif.) took first place in the pentathlon on Friday and finished with 2,756 points. GV took the top two spots in the 800m run with freshman Kennedy King (Davenport, Iowa) winning in 2:23.72 and teammate Katie Roberts (Ankeny, Iowa) runner-up in 2:25.89. GV had three more third place finishes in the field events – freshman Christanne Middleton (Walker, Mo.) in the high jump (1.50m), sophomore Tanner Werthmann (Davenport, Iowa) in the long jump (4.67m), and senior Jena Krebs (Washington, Iowa) in the weight throw (15.81m).
